beware the cold lamb

I'm constantly worried that when I crash at a friend's house that I will end up overstaying my welcome. I have my own three day rule (not realizing that some other dude came up with it first) and I hate to stay any longer than that. Over at Hole in the Donut, I found an interesting story about how lords used to hint that guests had stayed too long at their castles by serving cold lamb. Allegedly this is how the "cold shoulder" saying came about as well. Eeeeenterestingk.
